World War 1 Centenary commemorations

On Wednesday 7th November, Student Council organised a series of activities to commemorate the World War 1 Centenary. This included a two-minute silence, a peace wall with messages from staff and students and two ceremonies to plant a tree and over 11,000 poppy seeds, in a WW1 Centenary garden. During the planting of the tree Mr Bartlett made a reflective speech and Suneet 10HAM played the last post on his trumpet. Students found the event moving and thought provoking.

Hamilton Academy also completed the same series of activities as Rushey Mead and students enjoyed a discussion over SKYPE to reflect on the day.
