Exam Success 2018
Well done to our 2018 Year 11 cohort on a super set of results. We are very proud of them all and the results reflect their hard work and dedication and that of their highly skilled teachers and all other staff. The results are especially pleasing as these were the first under the new tougher specifications with grades awarded on the 9-1 scale in most subjects. As always, there were some exceptional individual performances with one student achieving grade 9s in all of her subjects! Six students achieved a remarkable grade 9 in both English and Maths.
With regard to the EBacc suite of qualifications, 104 students achieved a grade 5 in English, Maths, Science, Languages and Humanities and 49% of students achieved a standard pass in the EBacc suite of subjects.
When compared to national averages, the vast majority of subjects exceeded national results at both 9-7 and 9-5 grade boundaries.
Overall, 8.4% of students achieved Grade 9 in maths and 2.7% achieved a Grade 9 in English and many more grade 9s were celebrated across all subjects, including a staggering 62 grade 9s in Science.
Thirty students achieved 5 grade 8s or equivalent across a range of subjects (equivalent to the old A* grade).
In terms of overall performance, we are proud to report that 75% of students achieved a standard pass in English and maths (grade 4 or above) and a remarkable 55% achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in these two core subjects.
