Exam Results Day 2017
Well done to our 2017 Year 11 cohort on a super set of results. We are very proud of them all and the results reflect their hard work and dedication and that of their highly skilled teachers. The results are especially pleasing as these were the first examinations in English and maths under the new tougher specifications with grades awarded on the 9-1 scale.
As always, there were some exceptional individual performances with five students achieving a remarkable grade 9 in both English and maths. Overall, 9% of students achieved Grade 9 in maths and 4.5% achieved a Grade 9 in English. These results are phenomenal, particularly given that national results are expected to be between 3 and 3.5%, according to early media publications. There were 19 students who achieved 5 A* or equivalent grades across a range of subjects.
In terms of overall performance, we are proud to report that 77% of students achieved a standard pass in English and maths (grade 4 or above) and a remarkable 57% achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in these two core subjects. 48% of students achieved a standard pass in the EBacc suite of subjects.
