Dance Assembly

Congratulations to all of the students who performed in the Dance assemblies week beginning Monday 30th January. The work was showcased in a professional and sophisticated manner.

Forty eight students across the school from all different year groups had the opportunity to share four different dance pieces with the rest of the school during assembly. The BTEC Year 11 students performed two contrasting routines, a contemporary waltz and an Indian dance which demonstrated katak, bollywood and bhangra styles. The Year 10 Dance Leaders group performed a Musical theatre
dance piece to ‘A Hard Knocked Life’ from Annie which they had been working on as part of their choreography unit. Finally the Rushey Dance Academy performed a routine inspired by various Micheal Jackson songs. The Rushey Dance Academy Dancers rehearse every Thursday after school and had to go through an audition process to get into the group. The Academy is run by a BTEC Year 11 student, Kiran Kumar, who choreographed the routine.

Just wanted to say what a fantastic assembly it was this morning, the dancing was absolutely brilliant. Please pass on my congratulations to everyone involved. You could tell there had been hours of practice to get to today’s polished performance. Their confidence and assurance were really impressive. Mrs Bland – Assistant Principal
